Naturalist and Interpretive Guide - Panamá, Republic of Panamá

Working with companies such as Ancon Expeditions of Panamá, Conozca Panamá Primero, Inside Panamá, Aventuras Panama, Lindblad/National Geographic, and many others, I have had the pleasure of escorting groups, large and small, on excursions throughout Panamá.  These tours include activities such as wildlife viewing in the national parks, interpretation of rainforest ecosystems, overnight trekking expeditions, cultural excursions to indigenous villages, canal transits, city tours, and expeditions to the islands of Bocas del Toro, San Blas and Coiba, the Chiriqui highlands, and the Darien province.  I can work independently and also enjoy collaboration with others.

ITEC – Institute of Tropical Ecology and Conservation/ECOTEC - Bocas del Toro, Panamá

The Institute for Tropical Ecology and Conservation (ITEC) is a non-profit, education, research and conservation corporation, and operates the Bocas del Toro Biological Station in Panamá.  With ITEC I have taught multi-week programs for student groups.  Course curriculums are designed to provide students with a sound foundation in ecological concepts and field techniques as applied to tropical rain forest ecosystems.  The course is divided into five distinct categories; formal classroom lectures, informal field lectures, readings and critiques, and group research projects.

ECOTEC, the for-profit extension of ITEC, was established to provide serious amateur naturalists the opportunity to enjoy the biodiversity of tropical America in the company of researchers, professors, and students in residence at the field station.  With ECOTEC, I lead interpretive excursions into the forest and am on hand to discuss the day’s activities, current research projects being conducted at the station, and provided lectures and presentations.
